In what has been a busy NBA offseason for many teams, the New York Knicks have yet to pull the trigger on any big trades. However, the team did sign a player who could help out if Carmelo Anthony happens to leave ahead of the coming NBA season. In addition to that, the Knicks added Barack Obama's brother-in-law for a front office position. Here are the latest details on what the New York Knicks have been up to in the past week.

Knicks sign Beasley

In big news out of the NBA on Tuesday, the New York Knicks reportedly reached an agreement with veteran player Michael Beasley. Beasley's one-year deal is worth an estimated $2,116,955 according to ESPN's Bobby Marks, which is the veteran's minimum.

Beasley was drafted No. 2 overall in 2008 by the Miami Heat. He's spent 10 seasons in the league and has played for six different teams. The small forward averaged 9.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game for the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2016-17 NBA season.

It's unknown where Beasley will be on the Knicks' depth chart as the team is still working on making their roster right.

It's no secret that their All-Star Carmelo Anthony wants a trade and only to the Houston Rockets. So far, no deals have come together. However, if the team manages to trade Melo away, it could help Beasley get more minutes with the team.

New York has lost Derrick Rose in free agency to the Cleveland Cavaliers and current Cavs' guard Kyrie Irving has mentioned the Knicks as a team he would play for if traded. So far, there have been no reports of any deals being arranged between the Knicks and Cavs, though.

Knicks hire Craig Robinson

In addition to the Beasley signing, the NY Knicks also bolstered their front office. The team recently hired former President Barack Obama's brother-in-law Craig Robinson.

The Vertical's shams Charania indicated on Monday that Robinson will take on "multiple roles" for the front office. These will include player development as well as working as a GM for the developmental league team in Westchester, New York.

Robinson wasn't just hired due to the fact he was the former First Lady's brother, but he's also had experience working in the league. He previously worked as vice president of player and organizational development for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The latest move comes as the franchise looks to restructure their front office following the departure of former team president Phil Jackson. The team brought in Scott Perry as the new GM and Steve Mills has taken over the Knicks' president role. Now the 55-year-old Craig Robinson will add some more new experience as the team looks towards to their future.
