Carmelo Anthony insists, he only wants to be traded to the Houston Rockets despite mounting talks of a Cleveland trade. The New York Knicks veteran and 10-time all star player is apparently willing to waive his no-trade clause, but only for the Rockets and not the eager Cleveland Cavaliers. According to Yahoo! Sports, Anthony's choice of trade puts the Cavs one step back and moves Kyrie Irving one step further from his dream to become a Knicks player.
Cavaliers and Knicks postpone talks
Meanwhile, it looks like the Cavs team is having a hard time landing a good deal where Kyrie's trade request is concerned.
As reported by Yahoo!, several players are unwilling to team up with LeBron James, another concern that leaves the Ohio team thinking about its long term contract with James. Additionally, the Cavs were also reported to express interest in acquiring Chicago Bull's Jimmy Butler before the NBA Draft, only to miss out after he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Apparently, talks between the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers have been postponed if not discontinued until such time a better deal is formulated. Unfortunately, Carmelo and the New York Knicks have not come to an amicable agreement on their individual trade issues. For Anthony, who only wants to be traded to the Houston Rockets, can opt to stay with Knicks in the absence of a deal he likes.
The thing about Carmelo Anthony's request
Meanwhile, it looks like the New York Knicks are not seeing the Rockets as the best team to trade Anthony. Incidentally, there's also the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trailblazers that are interested in taking him. For the franchise, they can only capitalize on Carmelo's eagerness to leave the Knicks in order to trade him to a different team other than the Houston Rockets.
In other news, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were on the brink of sealing a deal with the Knicks, said they want a veteran player who is willing to sign a rookie contract, plus the first pick in NBA's next draft.
Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, has yet to release an official statement regarding the latest update on his trade request.
In a previous report by the Sports Illustrated, the Cavs have been unable to contact their point guard since concluding his Nike tour in Asia. So far, the report confirmed that LeBron James has been successful in helping the team acquire Derrick Rose and Jeff Green, but nothing when it comes to reaching their star player.
