The NBA season is finally over and it turns out that the analysts and bookmakers were right after all. The Golden State Warriors are the new NBA champions for the 2016/2017 season. Heavily favored at the beginning of the season to win it all, the Warriors pulled it off at the end as they won their second title in a three-year span. On Monday night the Warriors hosted the Cavaliers in a, what would turn out to be, the last and the biggest game of the season.

Game 5 of the NBA Finals was played at Oracle Arena in Oakland, and Golden State celebrated 129-120 victory. After the final whistle was blown in Monday night's game, Warriors' players and staff ran to the court to celebrate their title.

James vs. Durant

Kevin Durant was named Finals MVP after finishing with 39 points, seven rebounds and five assists in Game 5. Durant scored at least 30 points in every game of this year's Finals as he showed once again why he is considered as one of the best basketball players in the world. On the other side, the Cavaliers had a star of their own in LeBron James.

Even though his Cavaliers lost, James was arguably the best player on the court throughout these Finals as he became the first player in NBA history to average a triple-double in a Finals series. He finished game 5 with an impressive stat line of 41 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, but it wasn't enough.

After the game was over, LeBron talked to the media and commented on his and his team's performance. "For me personally, I left everything on the floor every game, all five games. So for me personally I have no reason to put my head down." James said. He then commented on Golden State's dominance by saying, "Golden State is a worthy opponent, obviously been the best team in our league for the last three years, the best team this year.

We were just another opponent in their way."

James has a point, as Golden State was dominant this season as no team in recent NBA history. They finished the regular season with the best record in the NBA 67-15 and stormed through the playoffs with a 16-1 record to win the title. There's no doubt this was one of the best seasons for a single team in NBA history.

'I'm not happy at all'

Later in his postgame interview, James was asked to comment on Kevin Durant winning his first championship. This is what he said, "Well, I'm not happy he won his first. I'm not happy at all. But at the end of the day from when I played him in the 2012 Finals to now, like I said, experience is the best teacher in life, and he's just experiencing and experiencing and experiencing."

LeBron also added that, for him, winning his first championship was like having his first son - a very proud moment. LeBron surely has a lot of "left in his tank", and even though he'll turn 33 in a few months, no doubt he'll be back at the biggest stage of the NBA next year also.
