John Calipari has a way with point guards. Not only can he recruited them, but he's also has given them a foundation to become excellent NBA players. John Wall, Derrick Rose, and Rajon Rondo are just a few. De'Aaron Fox is next in line. Fox has a lot to love about his game, and if given the opportunity, he can help put your team back on the map. The Kentucky star drew headlines when he scored 39 in their Sweet 16 game against UCLA to send them to the Elite Eight.

Strengths

First and foremost for Fox, his size is a lot different than the normal point guard. In shoes, he stands at 6'4", with a 6'6" wingspan. Fox is much bigger than the average point guard in the league, and yet he is still so quick. Fox is explosive and can get anywhere he wants with his dribble. He has NBA-ready speed mixed with the moves to get around anyone guarding him.

Fox is in a long line of John Calipari point guards, but he does compare well at this stage of his career to John Wall. Wall and Fox are both similar build and play-style, and for Fox that is a great compliment.

Fox can take it to the rim with ease, can hit a mid-range shot, and his ability to pass was overlooked last season. He had picture perfect lobs thrown to Bam Adebayo, and Fox is very good at finding an open shooter. In a pick and roll league, Fox will thrive.

Defensively, Fox is an animal. He'll get up and lock you up, and not only is he good at it, but he also loves it. This is a quality that any team will love if they choose him. Fox will attack offensive players, and it gives your team one less worry defensively.

Weaknesses

Fox's weaknesses start with his shooting. He shot the ball a lot better towards the end of the season, but his lack of consistency is a big worry. You can tell there isn't consistency based on his free throws, where he shot just 73 percent.

He will have to find a consistent rhythm if he wants to challenge defenses. It's something that John Wall is still working through, and on the bright side for Fox, this weakness isn't a hard fix.

Fox's weaknesses are minor in comparison to other point guards in the draft. The shooting can be fixed, and Fox has tons of qualities to love about him. He very well could be the best point guard in this upcoming draft. He may not be as flashy as Lonzo Ball or as dominant as Markelle Fultz, but Fox brings a type of leadership quality that you don't see in the other two. This could show in a year or two, but it would be no surprise if Fox's team was lead a lot better than the other two high profile guards.
