On Tuesday's episode of "SmackDown Live," fans saw the continuation of the big superstar shake-up between the "Raw" and "SmackDown" rosters. After stars including Bray Wyatt, The Miz, Dean Ambrose, and Alexa Bliss all had shown up as part of the Monday night show's roster, many people were wondering who "SmackDown" would acquire. Those questions were quickly answered at the start of the program when one of the champions from "Raw" announced his arrival to the Tuesday show.
Who joined 'SmackDown Live' roster?
The first superstar to show up was WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens. He boldly announced that this was the home of the "Kevin Owens Show" now, but was soon interrupted by "SmackDown" star Baron Corbin looking for a shot at his title. Another "Raw" star showed up to announce he was there to join the blue brand as Sami Zayn made his entrance. The man that built "SmackDown" also showed up. AJ Styles got in the ring to talk about it being his show. Eventually, it resulted in a Triple Threat match set up by Daniel Bryan where Styles, Corbin, and Zayn would compete with the winner getting a future title shot.
Other stars to join "SmackDown Live" included women's roster members Tamina and former Raw Women's Champion Charlotte Flair. Rusev was announced as part of the roster, as was Sin Cara. The Shining Stars showed to attack American Alpha right after they lost a rematch for the tag titles to The Usos. In another big move, it was announced that Lana would be joining "SmackDown" but as a women's competitor to make her debut in a few weeks. Also, the former longest reigning tag team champs in WWE history, The New Day, were announced as joining the show.
'SmackDown' match results
Randy Orton defeated Erick Rowan due to a disqualification. In this one, Orton had the upper hand, but Bray Wyatt showed up on the big screen for a distraction.
After Wyatt disappeared and the lights came on, Rowan turned the tables and hit Orton with half of the ring steps to cause a DQ. He laid Orton out in the ring after the match.
Jinder Mahal was another new acquisition for "SmackDown Live" and immediately went after Mojo Rawley. However, with the show in Boston, Patriots star Rob Gronkowski was in the crowd again to watch the match. Jinder went to trash talk him a bit at ringside, but Mojo was able to hit Jinder. Gronk tossed a beer in Jinder's face. Moments later in the ring, Mojo scored the big win after his finishing move connected.
Tye Dillinger won his second-straight match since debuting on the blue brand. This time around he was able to get the win over Aiden English of The Vaudevillains after hitting him with the Tye Breaker.
American Alpha seemed to have things in control late in their rematch against The Usos for the "SmackDown" tag team titles. However, Alpha's double-team move was broken up in the ring with Jason Jordan getting sent to the outside. That allowed The Usos to gain the advantage and hit a big splash off the corner on Chad Gable for the win. Post-match, the newest tag team to join "SmackDown," The Shining Stars attacked Alpha to leave them laid out.
Dolph Ziggler began to cut an in-ring promo to tell everyone that he would be staying on as part of "SmackDown" so it was time to talk about the future of things. He was interrupted by new arrival Shinsuke Nakamura who waited out fans chanting his name and singing his theme song.
When the crowd had quieted, he introduced himself to Dolph. Ziggler went for a Superkick, but Shinsuke blocked it and shoved him back. Eventually, Dolph decided to leave the ring instead of trying to attack.
In the main event, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, and Sami Zayn went at it in a triple threat to determine who would get a shot at the United States champion after "Payback." All three superstars had plenty of big spots, but it was ultimately Zayn hitting Corbin with a Helluva Kick to send him out of the ring and Styles connecting on the Phenomenal Forearm to get the pin on Zayn. That means Styles will face either Owens or Jericho for the United States title after WWE "Payback."
