The Nebraska football team appears to have kicked its recruiting into overdrive following the Spring Game weekend. The Huskers got the commitment of three class of 2018 players, as well as one class of 2019 and there are quite a few rumors even more are coming in the very near future. While someone like Judge Culpepper might not be on the brink of pulling the trigger, the Spring Game has definitely made an impression.

Culpepper attended the last scrimmage of spring practice and came away mightily impressed, according to the Omaha World Herald. The son of a former NFL defensive end that played for the Vikings, Bucs and Bears right around the same time defensive line coach was in the NFL, mike riley and company made it clear that Culpepper is someone the Husker coaching staff wants to come to Lincoln quite badly.

Famous dad impressed with the Nebraska football team

The Tampa, Florida native has not been on the Huskers’ radar that long. The school offered on April 6 but it appears the Cornhuskers are very high on the defensive end these days. It helps that Judge’s dad, Brad Culpepper had the kind of hard nosed approach to football when he was playing in the NFL. Culpepper might not have been among the best of the best, but he put together some rather impressive seasons at the highest level.

The 1997 and 1998 years were the best for the senior Culpepper, when he recorded 8.5 and 9.0 sacks in back to back seasons. Those were also the last two years where he was anywhere close to dominant. He was done with the NFL just three years later.

If the elder football player can bring the same approach to the game for his son, it appears Judge could be quite the target.

Nebraska’s recruiting continues to roll

During a recent radio interview, head coach Mike Riley had made the comment that there were a few players that were “silent commits” and that they would be announced at some point in the near future.

Since the coach made that announcement, there has been quite a bit of talk about just who the players might be.

The Nebraska football recruiting class has already garnered a top 10 ranking on ESPN’s list. There is also at least one more recruit who is going to make it official on Sunday, if Brendan Radley-Hiles, otherwise known as Bookie can be believed.

The question now is whether or not Judge Culpepper is one of those players. Might he not only be looking hard at being a Cornhusker but also announcing he will officially attend the university later on Sunday? Only time will tell.
