In the first two games of their 2017 NBA Playoff series, the Atlanta Hawks were unable to snatch away a win on the road as Washington took a 2-0 lead. On Saturday, they were back at Phillips Arena and able to get their first win of the series against the Washington Wizards. Dennis Schroder and Paul Millsap were the top players in an overall Start To Finish effort for the home team.

Here's a look at how the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Washington Wizards by double digits to gain an important victory in this best-of-seven situation.

Millsap, Schroder lead ATL

In their first home game of this series, Atlanta got big contributions from Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder. The All-Star power forward had a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds to go with five assists and two blocks. Their floor general finished with 27 points including three shots from long distance, as well as nine assists. Starter Taurean Prince also finished in double-digits with 16 points.

For today's effort, the Hawks shot an impressive 49.4 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Wizards 50-42.

In addition, they limited their turnovers to just 11, while Washington had 15. The Hawks came out hot in the first quarter outscoring their opponents 38-20 and after that, they never trailed in this game. Even when Washington seemed to be chipping into the lead and making it more manageable, the game never really got away from Atlanta.

John Wall was the top player in a losing effort for the Washington Wizards. The All-Star guard shot 10-for-12 from the field for 29 points and had seven assists to go with it. The rest of the Wizards starters combined for 30 points with Bradley Beal finishing with 12. Brandon Jennings also came off the bench to give the Wizards 13 points but they never quite got the momentum to overtake a hot Hawks team today.
