The Chicago Bulls hosted the defending NBA champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and their superstar LeBron James on a Thursday night in the NBA. It was a must-win game for both sides, as the Cavs are fighting for the number one seed, while the Bulls are hoping they can make it to the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. The home side were able to come out with a win, taking this game by a six point margin 99-93. Nikola Mirotic scored 28 points for the Bulls while Jimmy Butler added 25, but it was LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers that stole the show once again.
Lebron makes history
LeBron scored 26 points, and passed his former teammate, Shaquille O'Neal, for seventh place on the all-time scoring list. He also added 10 rebounds and eight assists in Thursday night's loss.
LeBron has moved from 12th to seventh on the list just this season, and now has 28599 points. He praised Shaq after the game, but was not in a good mood, since this was Cleveland's fifth loss in the last seven games.
"Shaq is an all-time great, most dominant player to ever play the game. I've been healthy enough and I've had some great teammates that allowed me to get to this point." said James after the game was over. He also added: "We're just in a bad spot right now. I'm not disappointed with the effort, we're just in a bad spot.
We are going to try to figure it out."
Cleveland is 0-4 against the Bulls this season. They are now 6-10 in March, and it's the first time since November 2003 that LeBron James has had a double digit loss total in a month. They will have a chance to close out March with a home win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. The Cavs are now a half game behind the Boston Celtics for the number one spot in the Eastern Conference.
Shaq congratulated LeBron
"I'm happy for LeBron. He's a great guy, congratulations to him and his family. It's a great acomplishment." said Shaq after the game on Inside The NBA. The guys on the show made sure that everybody knew how Shaq really felt about this. Take a look at this video:
This was all a joke, of course. We all know what a comedian Shaq can be.
