Los Angeles Lakers small forward Brandon Ingram is set to miss the game on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards, announced the team on Twitter. The second overall pick of last year's NBA draft is battling knee tendinitis. It will be the second straight game that Ingram is missing, as he didn't play on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers as well. Veteran small forward Corey Brewer will start in place of the rookie against Washington at Staples Center.

Ingram has played well recently

Rookie Brandon Ingram was a starter for the Los Angeles Lakers before the injury occured. The small forward had some good performances in the last 10 days or so -- scoring 21 points against the Los Angeles Clippers and 18 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ingram hasn't played since March 24th when the Lakers took on the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had a solid outting against them, finishing the game with 11 points and three rebounds in 30 minutes of action given by coach Luke Walton.

Ingram a big part of Los Angeles' future

The Los Angeles Lakers will be facing the Washington Wizards for the second and final time this season on Tuesday.

The two teams met in the nation's capital back in February, and Brandon Ingram played in that match. He had an all-around performance, which saw him post five points, six rebounds, and three blocks in 21 minutes on the floor. The Wizards defeated the L.A. team with a 116-108 result in their opening meeting of this year's NBA regular season.

The Lakers not rushing anything

After the Portland game, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton clearly noted that the team won't be rushing Brandon Ingram's comeback. The Lakers have a 21-52 record on the season and won't be a team that will make the playoffs. There is no need for the rookie to play as his injury could get worse if he comes out to compete with his knee tendinitis not 100 percent healed. It remains to be seen if, ultimately, Ingram will suit up for the game on Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
