Yes, it's true! The very first name to be announced as an inductee for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame is going to be none other than Kurt Angle. He may not have been with WWE for quite a while, but the company respects him and knows he is extremely deserving of the spot.
The announcement officially came on Monday afternoon after months of rumors that Kurt Angle would end up back in WWE sometime soon. Angle took 2016 off from major promotions and wrestled independently, as well as overseas, but no one knew if he would go back to TNA Impact Wrestling or sign with WWE.
“Kurt Angle’s accomplishments both in the Olympics and WWE were extraordinary,” said WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Paul Levesque. “He was one of the most gifted athletes to ever enter the ring, and we are honored to welcome him into the WWE Hall of Fame.”
Will Kurt Angle return as an active wrestler in WWE?
Anyone who has seen Kurt Angle over the last couple of years knows that he is still able to go full force in the ring. He was a major part of TNA's roster until the beginning of 2016, which saw him take time away from major wrestling promotions. Once the announcement was made that he was entering the WWE Hall of Fame, Angle hopped on Twitter and it seems he is done with Impact Wrestling.

Kurt Angle parted ways with WWE back in 2006 and he was a member of TNA until the beginning of 2016. The last year, he spent time wrestling on the independent circuit, and even spent time in New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2006 through 2009. Even though he is going into the Hall of Fame, it is not impossible or out of the question for him to become an active competitor once again.
Other possible inductees for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class
Kurt Angle is going to be announced as the very first official member of the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class on tonight's "Monday Night Raw." His name had actually not even come up in the rumors and speculation, but others have been hinted at for weeks now.
Diamond Dallas Page was actually revealed as the first possible announced name, but it was never confirmed by WWE.
While it's still possible that he could end up a member of the class, it certainly doesn't seem as if he will now be the headliner, with Angle leading the charge.
Again, Angle is the only name that has been confirmed by WWE, but a few others have been mentioned in passing as well. "Ravishing Rick Rude" may end up being inducted, and others have thought that The Undertaker would also receive the honor. It's quite possible that Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka may also be inducted, considering he just passed away over the weekend.
