Four Fantasy Football stars who should be traded in week 5

Earlier this week I wrote about several fantasy players who should be added from the waiver wire and about some fantasy players who should be dropped after week 4. We also took a look at several fantasy Football trade targets, players who could help you win your fantasy championships. Now we'll take a look at some players who could be traded for those targets this week.

1. Matt Ryan.

The Falcons quarterback is the leading fantasy scorer and it's not even close. Matt Ryan has absolutely torn up the league so far and has led the Falcons to an impressive 3-1 record. So what? Last season, the Falcons started 6-1 before other teams eventually figured out their offense. And what happened to Matt Ryan? His production tailed off significantly. Ryan is still on fire right now but it won't last forever. Fantasy players who own Matt Ryan should try and trade for a quality wide receiver or running back.

2. Michael Crabtree.

Fantasy players shouldn't fall in love with Crabtree's early production.

He's been a beast, but it's come at the expense of Amari Cooper, a far more talented wide receiver who will get far more future opportunities. Derek Carr spreads the ball around far too much for Crabtree to continue his torrid pace, which means that it's time to trade him. He is currently the fifth ranked fantasy wide receiver in terms of scoring, and should fetch a pretty penny on the trade market in week 5.

3. Melvin Gordon.

Melvin Gordon is not a good football player, but he has been a great fantasy player for the first four weeks of the season. His value has been significantly inflated by the touchdowns he has scored each week and Gordon has not topped 40 rushing yards in the last two games.

It's time for fantasy players and the Chargers to recognize that Gordon is simply not a good running back. Trade him to a frustrated Todd Gurley owner while Gordon's value is at its peak.

4. LeGarrette Blount.

The Patriots running back has been a fantastic fantasy commodity in the first four weeks of the season, but the backfield situation is about to get a lot less clear. Bill Belichick loves to switch running backs and Tom Brady absolutely hates to run the ball. Blount has averaged 14 fantasy points for the first four weeks of the season, but he won't keep that production up with Brady throwing on most downs. Try to trade Blount away before the running back situation in New England gets too murky.
