"Riverdale” season 4 is expected to answer all of the previous season’s cliffhanging finale questions. The show’s mystery will continue after the intriguing flash-forward scene, involving Archie (K.J. Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), and Veronica (Camila Mendes).

After they burnt their blood-soaked clothing, including Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) beanie, the three bid their final goodbye and promised to go on their separate ways as they are about to start their senior year. But where is Jughead? His disappearance is one of the biggest mysteries the new season has to deal with, to finally answer fans’ questions.

New season’s possible plotline

According to Hypable, “Riverdale” season 4 will work toward the previous season finale’s flash forward scene. There may be two timelines to explain this scene. The first one may delve into the vow that they will go on their separate ways, while the second one will explain Jughead’s disappearance.

Their goodbye and Jughead’s nonattendance are said to have something to do with Hiram Lodge’s (Mark Consuelos) revenge. Veronica and Archie may manage to outwit him, but he will never let it slide without a fight. As Hermione (Marisol Nichols) is now in prison, he still has a lot of plans for his daughter.

There are also theories that the core four’s activity has a connection with the Farm as they allegedly “ascended” in the season 3 finale.

However, what it means is yet to be revealed.

In addition, if Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead are really gone, then Alice (Mädchen Amick), Polly (Tiera Skovbye), and Fangs (Drew Ray Tanner) may also disappear. Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt) manages to escape after revealing her way of torturing the core four. But, it seems there is another Blossom that replaces her.

Netflix and the CW’s end of the deal

The CW and Netflix used to have a deal that allowed the network to release its shows, like “Riverdale,” “Supernatural,” “The Flash,” and “Arrow,” on the streaming service. However, the deal is about to come to an end.

After renewing the agreement in 2016, the CW has no plans to continue the said settlement when it expires in the spring.

The Verge reported new shows on the network such as “Batwoman,” “Nancy Drew,” and the “Riverdale” spinoff, “Katy Keene,” would not be seen on Netflix.

However, fans don’t have to worry as other the CW series like “Riverdale” season 4 will still air on the streaming network, along with “Flash” and “Dynasty.” Other shows that already premiered in the 2018/2019 season would also stay on Netflix.

Probable release date

The CW has yet to announce when “Riverdale” season 4 will be out. But if its usual timeline is anything to go by, it may be due for release in either September or October.

The show is also expected to keep its original time slot, every Wednesday at 8 PM ET. It will be seen after the new series’ “Nancy Drew,” airs.
