"star wars: The Rise of Skywalker," is expected to wrap up the Star Wars saga, and it appears that Abrams will be finishing up the Skywalker saga in a unique angle. Vanity Fair just released a profile on J.J. Abrams and the upcoming Star Wars film. Abrams spoke about the legacy created in the film and how it connects with the younger generation of characters. Abrams said this trilogy is about the young generation, being forced to deal with the sins of their fathers, as well as honor the accomplishments of those who led the way.

The new generation is forced to ask themselves if they are ready and prepared to fight against this dark evil. This new trilogy focuses on how the group has learned from its predecessors. They must fight to preserve freedom and ending the oppression. While Abrams is still quiet about how the characters will deal with the dark evil, fans are still left wondering. With the new trailer hinting at the return of the evil Emperor Palpatine, fans are already speculating on how the saga will wrap up.

'Rise of Skywalker' will continue the story told through episodes seven and eight

Abrams confirms that this film will follow "The Force Awakens," and "The Last Jedi." The story will finally be resolved with the ninth movie.

"Rise of Skywalker" will further explore the relationship of the sequel trilogy characters in a whole new way. J.J. confirms that "Rise of Skywalker," will take place sometime after the last film.

Part of Vanity Fair's Episode IX piece was confirming that Rey and Kylo Ren's connection is much deeper than we first thought. "The Rise of Skywalker" could possibly involve Force projection of some kind. If Rey and Kylo managed to have a conversation from two parts of the universe, there's no telling what they'll be able to do come December. Vanity Fair reminded fans that these two characters are very similar as both were abandoned. Rey was left on Jakku and Kylo/Ben Solo choose the dark side over the Resistance.

It should not surprise fans that their fiery dynamic will anchor the final chapter when it releases this Christmas.

'The Rise of Skywalker' introducing new characters

Vanity Fair also revealed that the Knights of Ren will be making their first official appearance in the films. The Knights made a short appearance during Rey's vision in "The Force Awakens." Shockingly, Kylo Ren will eventually turn on them. "The Rise of Skywalker" will have to answer the question who the Knights of Ren are. We know that they were instrumental in turning Ben Solo to the dark side and making him a lunatic warlord, who is attempting to finish what his grandfather, Darth Vader started. Many fans have theorized that the Knights of Ren are made up of the Jedi students Kylo took when he burned Luke's temple and fled.
