For two and one-half years, spoiler alerts and rumors have teased fans of "The Young and the Restless" about Adam Newman's possible return. Chelsea was supposed to run into him when she and Nick went to New Orleans with Billy and Phyllis but it did not happen. Nikki and Victoria were going to find Adam at a homeless shelter but that did not pan out. Victor's second son was expected to return to Genoa City before his wife left town last year, and it never took place. Viewers were told that Michael Munhey and later Justin Hartley would reprise the character that both had portrayed, but they did not.
Now, however, it has been confirmed that Mark Grossman has been recast in the role and his first airdate will be the middle of May.
Adam returns for May Sweeps
Soap Dirt indicates that the Newman family will be busy during the next few weeks with Victoria and Nikki trying to figure out what Victor is up to. In May, however, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry Adam will finally make an appearance. Spoilers suggest that the Newman patriarch”s big secret is that he has found his prodigal son and is taking care of him. This may be why Nikki found a bill for a psychiatrist. It’s possible that Adam has amnesia or emotional issues because of the explosion that supposedly killed him.
There are so many questions that need to be answered starting with where Adam has been since October 2016.
How did Victor find him and will Chelsea and Conner come back into the equation? Will Melissa Claire Egan return to “Y&R” or will her role be recast? Will Adam allow Nick to continue raising Christian, or fight for his son? Greg Rikaart is coming back to Genoa City as Kevin so he probably is part of this storyline as well. It looks lovely like this will be a rating winner for May Sweeps.

The new "Y&R" head writer, Josh Griffith, seems to have tapped into the pulse of loyal fans. He is making choices that will please the viewers, boost ratings and overturn bad decisions made by his predecessor. he is reported to have said he wants to return the show to its. It looks like he is up to a good start.
