The original “Ghostbusters” had Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray. Sony Pictures had gone in for a reboot in 2016 with women in leading roles but it failed to impress at the box office. Now, Sony has taken up “Ghostbusters 3” where three of the original actors return. Ernie Hudson has confirmed this and added that shooting will start this summer. He says they “are ready to strap on their proton packs and hit the silver screen once again.” The fourth member of the original team, Harold Ramis, is unfortunately no longer in our midst.

Daily Mail UK reports Dan Aykroyd portrayed the role of paranormal scientist Ray Stantz and is the driving force behind “Ghostbusters 3.” They added that Sony Pictures will handle the project.

This is a new genre of movies

The “Ghostbusters” falls into the category of fantasy. According to IMDB, the first one in 1984 was about three former parapsychology professors who set up shop as a unique ghost removal service. “Ghostbusters 2” (2016) was an all-women show. After a ghost invasion of Manhattan, four women paranormal enthusiasts band together to stop the otherworldly threat. They included a nuclear engineer and a subway worker. “Ghostbusters 3” (2020) is in the pipeline. Its storyline is a secret but it will have juniors in the lead.

Ivan Reitman who directed the first two will be associated with this.

The only teaser trailer of “Ghostbusters 3” discloses very little. Ernie Hudson, who played the role of one of the Ghostbusters, has said that he is a part of the latest venture along with co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters” and they have aged.

They will probably be seen in roles appropriate to their ages. Hudson feels the 2020 version will revive memories and track ghosts in the New York of today.

It could have a teenage cast

Jason Reitman, the son of original director Ivan Reitman, is working on this sequel to “Ghostbusters” and a teenage cast appears to be on the cards.

Entertainment IE reveals this. Aykroyd says Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan have written the story and set it in the 21st century, which will appeal to people of today. “Ghostbusters 3” could have a new title – “Rust City” and filming is in progress. It could release next year summer.

The movie is in the genre of fantasy and is related to paranormal activities. There have been very few Movies in this genre hence, with a good storyline, a movie like “Ghostbusters 3” should be in a position to attract attention.
