The latest updates and spoilers for the live-action "Titans" TV series reveal a new teaser trailer that sees Dick Grayson meeting the new Robin, Jason Todd, in the show. The trailer was shown during a segment of DC Daily in celebration of Batman Day. IGN previously showed exclusive photos for the show that featured the two Robins facing one another.
There are also new details about the show's story and the main characters Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven. The "Titans" will take place in a much darker world of the DC Universe as Dick forms an unlikely team of outcasts to stop a powerful threat while struggling to understand their place in the world.
Robin meets Robin
According to Digital Spy, the new "Titans" trailer was shown at the DC Daily show and the video starts with Jason Todd helping Dick Grayson and introducing himself as Batman's new protege. Dick felt awkward and confused knowing that someone is running around with his name and costume, and fighting crime side-by-side with his former mentor.
Jason, on the other hand, likes his new job as he brags to Dick about fighting bad guys, being famous as a superhero, and driving the Batmobile, much to Dick's chagrin and annoyance.
Dick had a falling out with Batman before the events of the show and left Gotham for Detroit to have a fresh start. But eventually, his past catches up with him when he meets Jason and feels that his successor does not understand the harsh life of being around the Dark Knight.
Showrunner Greg Walker told IGN in a previous interview that both Robins are very different and there is obvious tension between them.
"You get to watch Dick Grayson struggle when he sees another Robin and how that Robin is different and has a different relationship with 'dad,'" Walker said. "And the second child gets away with stuff the first child would never get away with in a family, and ours is really a family show."
More to the story and characters
According to Entertainment Weekly, the plot of the "Titans" will center around the relationship between Dick and Rachel Roth (Raven).
Dick became a police detective in Detroit to get away from the cape-and-cowl business. He decides to help Rachel deal with her abilities that same way Batman did for him.
Along the way, they cross paths with other super-powered outcasts such as Beast Boy and Starfire and they form an unlikely alliance to combat a mysterious group known as the Church of Blood.
"Titans" will premiere on October 12 on the DC Universe streaming service.
