The latest updates and spoilers for "The Flash" Season 5 reveal the character statuses of Kid Flash and Elongated Man in the show. Executive producer, Todd Helbing, told Newsarama that Wally West will only appear in three episodes this season.

As for Elongated Man, Helbing stated that he will fully showcase his impressive detective skills in the show. The fifth season will feature Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen helping their daughter, Nora, to get back home from the future after she made several mistakes in the present timeline. Barry and Team Flash will also deal with a new threat, Cicada, as he plans to get rid of all metahumans in Central City including the Scarlet Speedster.

Wally West's last run

According to Newsarama, Todd Helbing confirmed that Keiynan Lonsdale's character will appear in three episodes of "The Flash" this season starting with the season premiere. Helbing admitted that Wally West will not be around as much in the show as fans want, but promised them that his arc will be "really cool."

Lonsdale hinted his departure from the "Arrowverse" after he posted a tweet on his Twitter page thanking the fans for the support they gave him since becoming Kid Flash. He wants to branch out from his comfort zone and improve his acting skills for a better career.

Wally West first appeared in season 2 as the estranged son of Joe West, and Iris's younger brother. He became a speedster in season 3 after Savitar restored his powers in the Flashpoint timeline.

He helped Barry and Team Flash save Central City and the world from metahuman villains and aliens, to time traveling criminals and invaders from Earth X.

Kid Flash was also recruited by Rip Hunter to join the Legends team during the events "Legends of Tomorrow" season 3, stopping Gorilla Grodd and Damien and Nora Darhk from resurrecting the time demon, Mollus.

More on Elongated Man

According to Comic Book.com, Helbing stated that season 5 will feature more of Ralph Dibny's detective skills and he wants the character to rival Batman in solving riddles and puzzles.

"Ralph is going to be doing a lot more detecting this year than he did last season, and I think the description of Elongated Man was that he has the detective skills that rivals Batman's," Helbing told Newsarama.

"So, we want to get him on his journey in that regard this season."

Perhaps, Ralph's skills can help Nora find clues to the mistakes she made during her stay in the present, or solve the mystery behind Caitlin Snow's past.

Ralph first appeared in season 4 as a disgraced CCPD officer-turned-Private Investigator, who had some animosity with Barry Allen. He became a metahuman after Team Flash freed Barry from the Speed Force that created a huge hole leaking out a large flow of dark matter energy. He trained to become a hero and took the alias Elongated Man to help Flash and his friends stop Clifford DeVoe.
