It is a season of biopics and the latest in this genre is “Gold.” Gold essentially traces the trials and tribulation of Tapan Das, an assistant manager, who dreamt of winning the first Gold Medal in a team event for the newly independent India.

Hindi movie "Gold" was released on August 15, 2018, along with “Satyamev Jayte” and Akshay Kumar is all through in promoting the film.

Akshay Kumar was spotted with the film cast at the IMAX where the trailer of “Gold” was launched. “Gold” has been helmed by Reema Kagti and will be released on IMAX.

Cash on the patriotic fervor

The flavor will be distinctly patriotic on August 15, when the saga of Indian Hockey team will be regaled. The Indian Hockey team had already won a Gold medal in hockey under the Raj and was going to seek what was eloquently spoken by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru ”….soul of a nation long suppressed finds utterance”, an Olympic gold medal in hockey as a free nation.

Distinct Bengali background

The flick is being produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, and it will have a distinctly Bengali flavor.

The movie has seven songs all painstakingly rendered by Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Tanishk Bagchi.

First-day first show audience response

The film will try to bring out the fresh taste of a newly independent nation which is trying to redeem its pledge in a substantial manner, a promise to remain the leader of the oppressed third world countries.

The story of Gold is based on real events, but the Director has taken a lot of liberty to carve a story which includes the entire entertainment quotient to ensure the flick is commercially viable.

The story of “Gold” will move every Indian heart and it will be filled with pathos for every character who will ultimately become a winner in his or her capacity.

Comparisons are bound to be made between other Sport’s centered flicks like “Chak De India” but “Gold” is more real and true while “Chak…” was fictional and was not based on an episode in the history of Indian Women Hockey.
