A good number of moviegoers were left hanging when the "Avengers: Infinity War" movie stopped after certain events. The only comfort was knowing that this was part one of two. However, fans will have to wait until May 2019 to see the conclusion with the untitled "Avengers 4" film. It seems like there will be an official conclusion based on the latest from Marvel Studios' chief Kevin Feige. Keep in mind, "Avengers: Infinity War" spoilers may follow.
'Infinity War' cliffhanger
At the end of "Avengers: Infinity War," viewers saw that the mighty villain Thanos finally had all of the Infinity Stones on his Gauntlet.
Now that he had them all together, a simple snap of his fingers was all that was needed to wipe out half of the living creatures on planet Earth. That included superheroes who were suddenly not as immortal as one might think.
It’s all been leading to this. Get Marvel Studios’ "Avengers: #InfinityWar" with over two hours of bonus features on Digital, #MoviesAnywhere, and 4K UHD July 31 and Blu-ray August 14: https://t.co/basb8t261f pic.twitter.com/wjs1lnD6c1

So, moviegoers watched as popular Marvel superheroes like Groot, Winter Soldier, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Drax, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange all bit the dust, literally. They all turned into dust particles and floated away, which seemed to indicate they were vaporized, or something similar.
It wasn't necessarily one of those "feel good" endings for a superhero movie, due to the fact that people's favorite characters looked like they were done. However, that's why there is such great hope for the next installment in the franchise.
No cliffhangers in the fourth movie
Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige recently spoke with the Toronto Sun about the "Avengers 4" movie.
Feige said "storylines can come to an end" and later added that it is "certainly what's going to happen next year with 'Avengers 4.'" The man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe mentioned that this hasn't necessarily been seen in the superhero genre yet. Feige said that other superhero franchises will simply have a new actor start up another storyline "right away." That's not how they're going to do this particular series, it seems.
In making his comments, Feige also referenced the Star Wars franchise and the "Return of the Jedi" film that came out about 30 years ago. Feige said he saw that movie as a young boy, back in 1983, and felt it was the ending. It wasn't until three decades later that the franchise was revived and there was a sequel released.
With that said, this film will wrap up the Avengers' battle with Thanos and internally. In addition, it will wrap things up for the current or original team and launch the future of the MCU. That includes the "Spider-Man: Far From Home" movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy 3," and potential sequels for "Black Panther" and "Doctor. Strange." Cast rumors about "GOTG 3" have already come out.
The "Avengers 4" movie still needs a title, which could be a bit of a spoiler in itself.
There are already theories flying that the fourth film will involve time travel or dimension hopping. Until it arrives in theaters, fans at least have "Ant-Man and The Wasp" to head to theaters to see. It has been confirmed that the "Ant-Man" sequel will have an overlapping timeline with "Infinity War." There will also be "Captain Marvel" just ahead of the fourth Avengers film.
There will be other Movies along the way, but a wait of just under a year until that finality of this Avengers story is seen. "Avengers 4" hits US theaters on May 3, 2019.
