Nicolas Cage is arriving this week at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival to premiere his newest film, "Mandy," scheduled for release this summer. The festival runs May 8-19. This year's festival line-up includes Gasper Noe's "Climax" about a group of dancers in the 90s who mysteriously become drugged; Panos Cosmatos' "Mandy" about a broken man who tracks down the culprits of a religious cult who murdered the love of his life, and Mohammed Ben Attia's "Weldi" (Dear Son) about a Tunisian middle-class couple who have high expectations for their only son but later discover that he left for Syria.

'Mandy' first premiered at The Sundance Film Festival

'"Mandy" premiered for the first time at The Sundance Film Festival this past January. It received mixed reviews with the critics but the majority of the audience enjoyed it. This time, it marks its debut at The 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The last time Nic was at Cannes was in 2015 for the Paul Schrader film "Dog Eat Dog" featuring Willem Dafoe.

"Mandy" is considered to be the sequel to director Panos Cosmatos' 2010 creepy eclectic Canadian film, "Beyond The Black Rainbow" about a woman who is heavily sedated and tries to set herself free from The Aboria Institute—a secluded, quasi-futuristic commune. "Mandy" is just as bizarre and features Cage, who plays Red Miller in the film, in a chainsaw fight with the cult leader who murdered his lover (Mandy Bloom).

RLJ Entertainment bought the rights to "Mandy" earlier this year and LegionM; the fan-owned company presented the film at Sundance Film Festival, and actor Elijah Wood's own production company Spectrevision, XYZ Films, UMedia produced the film.”Mandy.” It has sold out all international territories and will premiere on May 12 at The Directors’ Forthnight at Cannes 2018.

Nic’s second film making its debut is “Between Worlds” about a lonely man named Joe who is suffering due to the death of his wife. Voltage Pictures is repping the film where it will have its first world premiere screening in the film market.

Nicolas Cage's upcoming projects

In June, Nicolas Cage will star in the bank heist film "211" released by Momentum Pictures.

They are the same studio that brought you the insane movie, "Mom and Dad" and "Looking Glass." He was in Puerto Rico in April filming "Primal" where he plays a wild big-game animal hunter for zoos named Frank; who has booked passage on a Greek shipping freighter with animals from the Amazon, including a rare white Jaguar. His other projects in the works are "Between Worlds" and he also plays an animated version of Superman in "Teen Titans Go!" being released this summer. A new trailer for that movie is available now on YouTube.
