A rumor that Heather Locklear is joining "The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills" took off a few weeks ago. Kyle Richards was asked about a report alleging that the former "Melrose Place" star would be added to the season 9 cast. In her interview on April 30 with the "Reality of Reality" podcast, Richards voiced her thoughts regarding the rumors.
Kyle answers burning question
Richards is no stranger to hearing famous names being tossed around in the press over who'll be on the next season of "RHOBH." She explained that this isn't anything new and that it's "ridiculous."
“All I’m going to say is every year, we hear these rumors about people,” said Kyle.
“I mean it was like ‘Denise Richards is coming on the show!’ I’ve heard so many people over the years, it’s literally ridiculous.”
Kyle said she "doesn't know" Heather personally, but she may have "met her in the 80s back in the day.”
Where the rumor came from
The rumor about Heather Locklear joining "RHOBH" began after a report by In Touch was published. An "insider" claimed that "Real Housewives" producer, Andy Cohen, has been "after her to join the show for years." The source said that now may finally be the "right time" for Locklear to get on the series. The source went on that Heather's people "think it might be a good way for her to stay accountable and sober."
The magazine's source added that Heather still has a huge fan base from "Dynasty" and "Melrose Place." It's believed that if Heather got on the show, she'd bring those fans on as new viewers of "RHOBH."
Locklear's rep speaks out
The report was corrected days later by Gossip Cop.
The celebrity surveillance site straightened out the rumor about Heather Locklear joining "RHOBH." Her spokesperson stated that it's "not true" that the star is in talks with Bravo to appear on the show. She's focusing on her health right now after dealing with some addiction issues. Her next court date is scheduled for June 7.
Whatever unfolds, cameras won't be present to film the drama
One more week of season 8 remains on "RHOBH," which is the third and final segment of the reunion. The cast are in the middle of confronting one another after watching the entire season's episodes. It concludes one season while setting the tone for the next one.
New names added to the official cast list won't be unveiled until November or December. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" season 9 will air later this year on Bravo.
