Jordan Peele shocked audiences all over the globe with his 2017 directorial debut, “Get Out." If you haven’t already heard of the film and the audience response that it rather quickly racked up, then it’s time you settle in and get on with some more research into the latest entertainment news because you’ve been missing out. Lucky for us, Jordan Peele isn’t finished yet, and, if the success of “Get Out” is anything to go by, we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of him in the future. On May 8 2018, Peele released a look at the first poster of his new film which is currently in production.
His forthcoming film will be titled ‘Us’
Taking to Twitter this Tuesday, Peele somewhat cryptically released the first look at the poster of his new film. Whilst he didn’t provide any further details regarding the film or its production, fans were still excited to get a look at the poster which showcases simply two disembodied heads. The poster makes the statement that the film is “a new nightmare” from the Academy Award-winner, which goes to show that he’s not done rattling the nerves of audiences everywhere.
In a report released by Variety, apparent sources close to the film have shed some more light on the cast members involved and the faces that we can expect to see involved in the production.
“Us” will not only be written and directed by Jordan Peele himself, but the project is said to include the likes of “Black Panther” star Lupita Nyong’o and “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss.
The movie is set to be released in March 2019
Jordan Peele clearly has a lot up his sleeve, and it seems that he was only getting started with “Get Out” -- which went on to win Peele an Academy Award for the category of Original Screenplay.
Best known for his work on the comedy series “Key & Peele," the thriller caught audiences off guard after they walked into the film’s screenings without knowing what exactly to expect. Soon after its initial premiere, the film grossed a worldwide revenue of $255 million, making a profit of 5,566 percent. If that’s not enough incentive to push the new director forward to dive into his new production, the film also has a near-perfect 99 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
With Peele, it’s fairly certain to assume that we have no clue what to expect, and while fans are already speculating in terms of what the forthcoming production might entail, nothing can be said for certain. Peele is keeping the details of the project under wraps for the time being, though he did give us a few hints earlier this year at the 2018 Oscars ceremony. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he confirmed that “Us” is going to be exploring the thriller, horror, and action genres, but he’s aiming to make a completely different film that’s not focused on addressing race.
In a closing statement from the same interview, he added: “I’m just trying to entertain myself again,” which means that fans are in for quite the ride.
