On Monday afternoon, the Federal Bureau-Investigation (FBI) raided the office of Michael Cohen, the president's personal lawyer in regards to the ongoing Stormy Daniels scandal. After addressing the issue with reporters, Donald Trump lashed out on social media on Tuesday morning.

Trump on Twitter

It's no secret that Donald Trump has a controversial history of reported infidelity and allegations of sexual misconduct. Unlike prior allegations, the scandal linking Trump to adult film star Stormy Daniels has resulted in the president remaining silent, leaving members of his administration and his legal team to make public comments.

The story first broke when the Wall Street Journal revealed that Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen had paid Daniels $130,000 in "hush money" to stay silent about the affair during the 2016 election. Despite Trump's team denying the report, the FBI raided Cohen's office on Monday, who could now be charged with bank fraud.

As seen in a pair of tweets on April 10, Donald Trump is not happy. "Attorney–client privilege is dead!" Trump tweeted out. In a follow-up tweet, Trump added that the FBI raid was "A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!!!" Trump's remarks come less than 24 hours after speaking to reporters about the incident where he labeling it a "disgraceful situation" and an "attack on our country." After the president's tweets, it didn't take too long before those who oppose the commander in chief decided to fire back.

Twitter backlash

Within minutes of Donald Trump's tirade on social media, critics of the president decided to chime in. "If you did nothing wrong, what are you worried about?" one tweet wondered.

"You've said over and over that you knew nothing about the Stormy Daniels payoff...so what attorney client privilege are you referring to?" a Twitter user wrote.

"Donnie really means Justice is restored! What are you worried about? NO ONE is above the Law Donnie, NO ONE!" another tweet added. "Not when investigating a crime it aint. It only exists when there is no warrant negating it! You don't know much do you!" yet another tweet pointed out.

"Yes it is dead when your breaking a law.

Here’s a surprise, YOU ARE NOT above the law. Arrogance is a poison!!! It’ll get you every time," a social media user stated. "Hey Genius...it’s only dead when there’s probable cause that a crime has been committed," a follow-up tweet read. The backlash continued as the drama surrounding Donald Trump and his alleged affair with Stormy Daniels remains in the headlines.
