"NCIS" season 15 is currently on hiatus but fans are already excited for the show's return. Many are expecting that there will be big things that will happen to Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the entire NCIS team. Although things are getting more exciting in the series, fans will be saying goodbye to Agent Abby Scuito(Pauley Perrette).

Despite Abby's exit, the show will still go on to season 16 as announced by CBS. This confirmation ends the rumors about the show's cancellation due to plummeting ratings. Apart from that, Gibbs will also stay.

New case

According to CaterMatt, Gibbs and his team will be investigating a new murder case. This will be the highlight of "NCIS" season 15 episode 21 titled "One Step Forward." The episode will focus on Sara Carter, played by Skye P. Marshall, whose mother just died. Carter will ask for the help of Gibbs to investigate her mother's death.

She believes that the police imprisoned the wrong person. Because of this, it is possible that the real culprit is still free. Carter is hoping that Gibbs will help her track the real murderer of her mother.

Abby says goodbye

Aside from that, episode 21 will also feature Abby, played by Pauley Perrette. Abby will be awarded a dinner reservation for two in a five-star hotel.

She needs to choose who among her co-workers would she bring to this brand-new five-star restaurant in an igloo.

She will also appear in another episode before she finally leaves the show. Fans are wondering how Abby's character will be written off the series, especially considering that she has been part of "NCIS" since its debut in September of 2003.

Since her character is important to the series, executive producers George Schenck and Frank Cardea promised TVLine that they would "send the actress and her character out in style."

Season 16 renewal, Harmon stays

Like other famous shows, "NCIS" is also facing the controversy of being canceled. But this story will rest now after CBS confirmed that the show is renewed for season 16.

CBS president Kelly Kahl said that the viewers love the show because of its amazing characters and terrific storytelling.

Fans will also be pleased that Mark Harmon, who plays Agent Gibbs, already signed a new deal for "NCIS." This means that viewers will be seeing the star on their small screens for the 2018-2019 television season. It is also said that Harmon got a salary increase making him one of the highest-paid television stars today.

Harmon has been part of the series for 16 years. Some fans noted that he is already aging and many fear that he might quit the show. Fortunately, Harmon will stay with "NCIS" and fans are happy.
