Thousands of fans are now starting to get thrilled about the upcoming premiere of the “NCIS” Season 15. However, Mark Harmon is reportedly not interested in reprising his role as Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs for another installment.

Special Agent Gibbs to bid goodbye after fifteenth season?

Closer Weekly reported that Mark Harmon could possibly leave after the “NCIS” Season 15 finale episode. According to the news outlet, the lead star might consider leaving the show because of his age and, allegedly, failing health.

As a matter of fact, an unnamed source close to Harmon has claimed that the actor had already talked this matter over with his better half.

"Mark talked it over with his wife, [Pam Dawber], and vowed to seriously consider making next season his last," the insider stated.

It was reported that Mark Harmon is now getting older and he does not have the energy to do action scenes anymore. The same source added that the 65-year-old actor prefers staying at home to going outside and do something athletic.

While most reports suggest that Harmon might decide to retire after the “NCIS” Season 15, other rumors claim that the veteran actor will be exploring another field. CarterMatt has previously claimed that Mark Harmon might get a promotion that would force him to give up his role in the show. In addition, CaterMatt even went as far as suggesting that peddling illness rumors is "pretty terrible."

Some reports also claim that the show’s plummeting ratings could cause its cancellation.

While these claims could be true, it should be noted that CBS has not yet released any official statement regarding this matter.

Things to expect on Jennifer Esposito’s exit

Meanwhile, The Inquisitr reported that Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) would be forced to quit her job as a Special Agent to attend to her mom (Mercedes Ruehl), who reportedly has dementia.

Most fans can recall that Quinn received two mysterious calls from her mother in the “NCIS” Season 14 finale.

It is believed that the calls would explain the exit of Esposito’s character in “NCIS” Season 15. Other speculations suggest that Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are reuniting in the series’ imminent fifteenth installment.

Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Weatherly) and Ziva David (de Pablo) previously left the show to focus on their one and only daughter named Tali. However, an article on Blasting News clarified that the rumored reunion is very unlikely to happen as Weatherly is currently busy working on the upcoming “Bull” Season 2.

NCIS” Season 15 is set to return in Fall 2017. Stay tuned for more spoilers and updates!
