On Monday morning at the White House, nearly 30,000 people attended the annual Easter Egg Roll. In addition, other events took place, including a meet and greet with the first couple, as well as Melania Trump reading to children.

Jimmy Kimmel on Trump

For the last 140 years, the annual Easter Egg Roll has become a tradition at the White House, growing and expanding as the years have gone on with new administrations. After spending the Easter holiday at their Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, the first couple made their way back to the White House in time to greet guests for the event.

The morning started with Melania and Donald Trump waving to those in attendance with the Easter Bunny by their side, before the president went on a rant about the improved economy and the increase in military spending.

In addition, Melania Trump read to children while Donald Trump and other members of the family mingled with those who came to visit. The Easter Egg Roll, which felt botched at times due to the Trump's behavior, was highlighted during the April 3 edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "Trump heard 'egg roll' and promised that the Chinese would pay for it," Kimmel said to the laughter of the audience.

"It was a fun day for the president. He got to eat chocolate. He even met a nice kid named Barron who he really liked," Jimmy Kimmel went on to say with humor. After playing a clip of Donald Trump praising Melania Trump for allegedly putting together the Easter Egg Roll, Kimmel wasn't buying it. "There's not a chance she did one thing to help set that up," he said.

"The only thing she's been working on is an escape tunnel," Kimmel added, before playing an edited clip of Stormy Daniels on the balcony at the White House alongside the first couple.

Jimmy Kimmel then turned his attention to Melania Trump where the first lady was sitting on the White House lawn and reading to children.

"No White House Easter celebration would be complete without story-time with our first lady," Kimmel said, before making a few light-hearted jokes about Melania's accent.

Right-wing reaction

After the video of Jimmy Kimmel's comedy bit was uploaded to the internet, Fox News host Sean Hannity tweeted out an article from his website that attacked the late night host for mocking the first lady. "Another late night lecture..." Hannity tweeted, which resulted in liberals and conservatives fighting back in forth in the comment section.
