Jill Duggar seems to have revived her midwife career. On Thursday, the 26-year-old mom-of-two took to Instagram to share her latest achievement: she helped deliver a baby! Jill posted several photos of her with the cute newborn wrapped in a blue knitted blanket.
"Got to help deliver this chunker the other day!" the Duggar daughter wrote in the caption, adding the hashtag "midwife."
Duggar fans know that Jill isn't a stranger to delivering babies.
She previously trained as a midwife and actually got her CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) certification from the North American Registry of Midwives. The former reality star even proudly showed off her certificate in an old Instagram post from 2015. And, as reported by In Touch Weekly, Jill was also present during her younger sister Joy-Anna Duggar's C-section delivery last February.
Is Jill Duggar's midwife license still valid?
Unfortunately for Jill, her latest post stirred up a heated debate among "Counting On" fans. Several fans questioned her latest post and doubted her qualifications as a professional midwife.
After all, Jill has not updated her followers on whether her license is still valid or now expired.
"She's not licensed," one critic commented on Jill's post. "The woman 'she trained' under has been removed from the list of certified midwives in the state of Arkansas and Jill's 'training is now null and void."
On the other hand, Jill's fans defended her and argued that the former reality star only assisted in the delivery. Moreover, they praised Jill for doing something she's obviously passionate about.
"Jill has probably witnessed and helped with more deliveries than any doctor I could find before the age of 18. I would trust her 1,000%," wrote one fan.
Duggar critics raise more questions
Aside from Jill Duggar's qualifications, some haters were quick to point out more dangers over her latest practice of being a midwife.
Jill wrote in the caption that her youngest son, Samuel, was with her during the woman's labor.
"Sam helped me labor-sit then napped like a champ when the time came!" Jill wrote in her post.
Critics noted that it's not a good idea to bring a kid, more so a 9-month-old baby, to a homebirth. According to one of the commenters, having a baby in the room might be a distraction and take a midwife's attention away from the mother delivering. Another critic noted that baby Samuel could be introduced to germs in the birthing room.
Jill Duggar has not responded to any of the comments. She and her husband, Derick Dillard, no longer appear on their family's reality show since Derick's rift with TLC. It can be remembered that the 27-year-old missionary blasted the network for airing "I Am Jazz," a reality show about a transgender teenager.
Derick previously confirmed that he and Jill have cut ties with TLC because they wanted to take a different path for their family. The couple is now focused on their church ministry and regularly update their website.
