A grateful pawnshop owner gives the Winchester Brothers a gift of free TV after they have solved the mystery-of-the-week. As we all know, Dean does not turn down free offers even though Sam is not very excited about the prospect. Long story short, Dean takes back the free TV to the bunker to add it to his Dean Cave. Little did he know that they are going to be – SPOILER ALERT – sucked into a popular kids’ show called “Scooby Doo.”

Is the crossover a new ‘Supernatural’ episode?

According to “Supernatural” co-showrunner Robert Singer, the Winchester brothers have been in a situation like this before wherein they were sucked into a TV show.

If you remember, the Trickster brought the Winchester brothers inside the TV world to make them realize their respective roles in the grand plot of their universe. But the crossover show is not going to be a repeat of the Season 5 episode. Instead, this is going to be a new episode with a whole new story behind it.

Who would’ve thought that Dean has extensive knowledge about the cartoon “Scooby Doo?” If Sam Winchester is the bookworm between the two brothers, we can certainly count on Dean to know his way around the show and the characters that they meet along their journey inside. This is because “Scooby Doo” was his favorite TV show growing up. However, it will be a while before they get used to it.

Dark ‘Scooby Doo’ episode

Co-showrunner Andrew Dabb also added that while there may be things that we don’t normally see in a regular “Scooby Doo” episode, this particular crossover will be very dark. There won’t be a man behind the mask. They may have found themselves in an old “Scooby Doo” episode, but what they are going to face is entirely new.

The episode will be based on 1970’s episode called A Night of Fright is No Delight. However, the events will change when a creature from the real world joins the skirmish. A leaked photo shows Castiel, Shaggy and Fred, Dean and Daphne, Scooby, and Sam and Velma hiding in separate huge jars. EW also took a shot of Daphne and Dean holding hands, which, we believe is no accident.

Another leaked photo shows Dean wearing a red scarf in front of Sam and Castiel, all three standing in a dark alley in the real world.

Watch Dean and his brother Sam, together with their angel friend Castiel as they fight dark creatures inside the cartoon world and join Scooby and the rest of the Mystery Gang for a new adventure. “Supernatural” crossover will be aired at 8:00 PM ET on Thursday, March 29 on the CW.
