Netflix’s dark comedy “Santa Clarita Diet,” is back for more human flesh. Netflix dropped the trailer, showing an even darker tone than the first season. Drew Barrymore’s character is back for more human flesh. In the trailer, it appears that the craving for human flesh virus that has infected Barrymore’s character has spread and the community is starting to notice more and more people are missing.
Nathan Fillion is back - well his dismembered head is back. The new season is sprinkled with blood, gore, and falling body parts. The show is once again full of comedic timing perfected by Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, and Liv Hewson, who is the daughter.
Season two welcomes several guest stars including Joel Mchale, Maggie Lawson, Gerald McRaney and Zachary Knighton.
New characters will become rivals
Maggie Lawson and Joel McHale will play a successful realtor couple, who bring out the competitiveness of Barrymore and Olyphant’s characters. The two couples have a rich history with each other. Both Olyphant and McHale’s characters played in a championship, in which McHale’s character beat Olyphant’s team. Zachary Knighton plays the chill Californian neighbor who will do anything to uncover the truth of what is going on with the undead. Gerald McRaney, known for roles on Castle and This is Us, plays an army colonel that Olyphant finds intimidating.
If you have not watched the first season, the series centers around Barrymore and Olyphant, who both are real estate agents and live a simple life. Barrymore ends up dying but then comes back to life. However, things get twisted when she is forced to eat raw human flesh to stay alive and not rot away.
A cure may be in sight for the family
Season two continues the story with Barrymore and Olyphant trying to adjust to their sick and twisted life. She’s fighting to maintain her suburban lifestyle and not be just another monster. The police begin to get involved, while the family races for a cure. The neighbor is believed to have found an ancient cure for her decomposition.

While the family pretends to have everything covered, the kitchen is covered in blood and fingers are popping off. The couple is also hoping to figure out what went wrong and why she is the way she is. Netflix kicks it up a notch with their blood, guts, and gore. The couple is also forced to deal with a copycat who is dismembering people all throughout Santa Clarita. Season two is set to be released later this month. This season is all about keeping their secret safe, avoiding the police and not getting blood on everything.
