"Game of Thrones" Season 7 plot leak turned out to be completely true, and the fans are expecting something similar to happen this year. That's exactly why every now and then a new alleged plot leak appears. Someone posts a complete Season 8 outline on Reddit and says they got it from a "trusted source" who is somehow linked to "HBO." But more often than not, these alleged plot leaks seem like a complete fanfiction.

The stakes are high for "Game of Thrones" Season 8 since this is, after all, the final season. And given how many times an entire plot has "leaked" online the fans are suspicious, and they think that "HBO" is probably doing that on purpose, to keep up the hype during the offseason.

However, the latest "plot leak" has a different vibe. It somehow feels real, especially the part about the forging of Lightbringer, the legendary sword of heroes that will be used to defeat the Army of the Dead. So without further ado, let's get right into this.

Potential "Game of Thrones" Season 8 spoilers may follow.

Where will the final battle take place?

If you are up to date with filming news and set leaks, you should know that the Battle of Winterfell will probably take place in episode 3, directed by Miguel Sapochnik. According to this plot leak, Winterfell will fall to the Army of the Dead, but the main characters will escape. Now, I won't get into too many details here (check out Talking Thrones' videos for that.) Instead, I am going to focus on the most interesting, and most important part of the leak -- the great sacrifice, and forging of Lightbringer.

The scene takes place on the Trident (just like the last battle of Robert's Rebellion.) This is where the Winterfell survivors will meet Melisandre, Kinvara, and the Order of the Fiery Hand. For those of you who don't know, the Order of the Fiery Hand is a group of a thousand (never more, never less) slave soldiers who are guarding the Red Temple of R'hllor in Volantis.

They are all waiting for the great battle, ready to make a sacrifice, which, of course, means burning people alive.

The great sacrifice

Jon Snow isn't happy with Melisandre there, so he goes to talk some sense into her. But Melisandre, with the ruby in her necklace glowing brighter than ever, straight up tells him that the great sacrifice must be made since the Night King is coming for his replacement who is amongst them now.

Melisandre's voice is loud, and everyone starts to gather around her and Jon. At this point, her ruby is getting so bright that some people in the crowd have to turn their eyes away from it.

All of a sudden Melisandre stops speaking, and she points at Gilly and little Sam. Davos realizes what she is insinuating and tries to kill her, but Jon Snow holds him back. Melisande continues by saying that the Lord of Light has shown her this great sacrifice in flames.

Forging of Lightbringer

This is where Bran Stark comes into play. He confirms Melisandre's story for he has also seen the child surrounded by fires. He then goes on to explain that little Sam was not only meant to be the final, 100th offering to the White Walkers, but he was also meant to become the next Night King.

But just when everyone thought that Gilly's son would be burned alive, Bran turns to Melisandre and says that she will be that sacrifice. And then he tells Jon Snow that he must kill her to stop the Night King and bring the dawn.

Everyone agrees, and Melisandre finally drops to her knees. At the same time, Viserion's scream echoes across the battlefield signaling that the Night King is here. Sam gives Jon his family's ancestral Valyrian steel sword Heartsbane to kill Melisandre. For she is the one who wanted his son dead.

Jon Snow then plunges Heartsbane deep into Melisandre's chest. Smoke begins to roll out of Melisandre's nose and mouth. The ruby on her neck glows so bright that it bursts into a red liquid that completely covers the sword, turning it into the red sword of heroes.

And when Jon pulls out the sword, it starts to glow red. He is now ready to fight the Night King.

My opinion

Even though there are some interesting points such as this part about forging of Lightbringer and Melisandre's sacrifice, I think that this "Game of Thrones" Season 8 plot leak is not a leak at all, but a fanfiction. Still, I strongly recommend watching Talking Thrones' videos. For there are a lot of interesting ideas scattered around this outline, and some of them might as well turn out to be true.
