"Game of Thrones" Season 7's "Beyond the Wall" episode saw Jon Snow and company on a mission to catch a wight and bring it to Cersei. And so they did. But at the terrible cost as Daenerys lost one of her dragons to the Night King who then got everything he needed to finally breach the Wall.
As a result, not only did the Army of the Dead descend upon the realms of men, but the Night King now has the entire continent full of dead bodies at his disposal. So it is just a matter of time before his army becomes twice as big as it already is. With that in mind, let's talk about the possibility of the Night King actually orchestrating these events from behind the scenes.
The Night King's secret role
According to some fans, the Night King is the mysterious Lord of Light who sends people visions and raises them from the dead. His goal? To draw Westeros further into conflict so he could have more bodies at his disposal when the time comes.
Let's start with the recent events. Why do you think Aerys II went mad? Because of the whispers of the Lord of Light. This was never more obvious than on Rickard Stark's trial when Aerys declared fire as his champion. The result? Robert's rebellion and tens of thousands dead all across Westeros.
Now, about Robert's death and the War of the Five Kings. First of all, who is to say that someone wasn't warging the boar that killed Robert?
It's entirely possible that was the Lord of Light's doing. Then we had Stannis and his Red Witch, they murdered Renly, thus destroying any chance of ending the war quickly. And like that wasn't enough he sent Stannis North. The result was, of course, more dead bodies for the Night King's army.
The same goes for Jon Snow's resurrection.
The Lord of Light raised him from the dead just so he could fight in the Battle of the Bastards and bring more dead people for the Night King to raise. And the other reason would be because he knew Jon is the only one who can convince Daenerys to eventually bring her dragons North of the Wall.
The Night King's trap
Now it's time to talk about the events that happened in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
In the Season premiere, the Hound gazed into the flames and saw the mountain shaped like an arrowhead, the same place where the Night King was waiting in the "Beyond the Wall" episode. he simply stood there, patiently waiting for Daenerys to show up, so he could kill a dragon, a weapon of mass destruction that will allow him to finally breach the Wall.
