jax taylor cheated on Brittany Cartwright two years into their relationship and later went on a rant against her, complaining that they were never intimate and noting that he would "never" marry her. However, for some strange reason, the "Vanderpump Rules" star and SUR restaurant waitress has decided to remain dedicated to her relationship.

As the new episodes of "Vanderpump Rules" season six continue to play out, Brittany Cartwright is taking more and more heat from fans online who have slammed her as "sad" for staying with someone who treats her so badly.

Cartwright has also been confronted by comments from fans who feel that she's only staying with Taylor to extend her reality television fame.

Is Brittany Cartwright lowering her standards for fame?

"I'm thinking the same reason she moved off the farm to go to meet a known cheater - TV fame," one person wrote on Twitter on January 8, noting that Brittany Cartwright had moved from her hometown in Kentucky to Los Angeles to date the infamous playboy. As fans of "Vanderpump Rules" will recall, Cartwright came to the west coast from her hometown to be with Taylor but, around the same time, he showed signs of second thoughts about their relationship and was even caught flirting with Lala Kent as she moved into his West Hollywood apartment.

It's hard to think that Brittany Cartwright would simply be suffering from low standards. However, according to her "Vanderpump Rules" co-star, Ariana Madix, she isn't the type of person who would stay with a man to be famous. So, low standards or perhaps a lack of self-respect seem to be the only other options.

Ariana Madix defends Brittany Cartwright against online haters

As Cartwright continues to face backlash on Twitter and Instagram, Ariana Madix is doing her best to make it clear that Cartwright isn't using Jax Taylor for fame. "It’s sad to hear people saying that about her," she told one particular Twitter user. Unfortunately, Madix's comments haven't done much to settle the backlash and others have labeled Cartwright as "desperate."
