Loyal "Y&R" fans have been hoping for Adam Newman to return to genoa city since Justin Hartley left the role in October of 2016 to star in "This is Us." About six months ago rumors began that Michael Muhney would soon reprise his role on "The Young and the Restless" as the son of Victor and April. Now, spoiler alerts from Celeb Dirty Laundry indicate that the expectation for Chelsea's supposedly dead husband to return to town will continue into 2018. The millon dollar question on everyone's mind is whether or not the man who will portray him will be Hartley, Muhney, or someone entirely different.

Is Adam Newman returning or are spoilers wrong?

Loyal "Young and Restless" fans were outraged last October when Chloe blew up the cabin with Adam inside. From the beginning, the rumor mill suggested that Justin Hartley might soon return to the role, and later, spoilers began saying that Michael Muhney was coming back to Genoa City. Both actors are currently involved in other projects, with Hartley on "This Is Us," and Muhney playing a role on "The Good Doctor."

It has been an entire year since Adam's supposed demise and loyal fans remain hopeful. It was even reported that Chelsea was going to see her spouse when she was in New Orleans with Nick, Billy, and Phyllis. It has been more than a month and the only thing that came back to Genoa City was the two couples, indicating that they had been partners in crime and partners in something else while in the Crescent City.

One has to wonder if indeed the younger Newman son is returning from the grave or if the spoilers are wrong.

There must be a plausible explanation for Adam's absence

Should spoiler alerts be correct and Adam Newman does return to Genoa City, there will need to be a plausible explanation. Celeb Dirty Laundry gave several different scenarios as to what may have happened.

They suggest that Chelsea's spouse may have escaped the explosion, wandered through the woods, and may have amnesia. It is also out there that he may have been rescued by a woman, fallen in love with her, and been given another name

Spoilers say the new head writer Mal Young has not said one way or the other whether or not Adam is returning to town.

The fact that he has not ruled it out could be a sign to the fans that Chelsea may not be a widow after all. Stay tuned to "The Young and the Restless" weekday afternoons on CBS at 12:30 PM to find out if indeed Victor's youngest son comes back to Genoa City and whether or not it will be Justin Hartley, Michael Muhney, or a different actor.
