Selena Gomez attended Billboard magazine's Women in Music dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday night, Nov. 30, and during the event, she delivered an emotional Woman of the Year speech.

During her speech, 25-year-old Selena Gomez, who received a kidney transplant earlier this year, broke down in tears while speaking ofher friend and Kidney Donor, Francia Raisa, who was also in attendance at the event and introduced Gomez to the audience. “We’ve shared every high and low together,” Raisa told the audience, according to a report by Hollywood Life on Nov.

30. She continued on, telling onlookers that she and Gomez are quite close and joking about their kidney type.

When Selena Gomez took to the stage, she immediately said that it was Raisa who should be getting the Woman of the Year award. “[Francia Raisa] should be getting this award... [Francia] saved my life,” Gomez told the crowd.

Selena Gomez loves the music world

Continuing on, Selena Gomez spoke of her role in the music industry. “I’ve never felt this proud to be a woman in the music industry as I do today,” she continued. As she explained, tons of voices are being heard publicly for the very first time and Gomez couldn't be more excited to be a part of the booming industry.

Gomez first went public with her kidney transplant and the identity of her kidney donor on Instagram in September.

At the time, she shared an image of herself and Raisa laying beside one another in their hospital beds after their surgeries. She also promised to open up more about her health crisis in the future but didn't reveal when she would be doing so.

Selena Gomez is back with Justin Bieber

In other Selena Gomez news, the singer and her former boyfriend, The Weeknd, parted ways last month as she rekindled her past romance with Justin Bieber.

As fans will recall, the couple dated for years on and off but often faced hardships due to Bieber's allegedly womanizing ways. As some fans may recall, Gomez called out Bieber for cheating on her multiple times last year on Instagram but said she had forgiven him for his past mistakes.

In the weeks since their reconciliation, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been spotted together on a regular basis in Southern California and earlier this week, before Gomez attended the Billboard magazine event, they were seen together at church. Ironically, Bieber's ex-flame, Kourtney Kardashian, was also in attendance at the night time service.
