Shashi Kapoor who acted in more than 150 films is dead. His distinguished acting career began when he was still a child. He acted in the film such as "Heat and Dust" and "Shakespeare-wallah" which propelled him to international recognition. The veteran actor and producer acted in several movies during his acting career. His acting career started in the 1970s. Kapoor had been sick for some time and passed on in the hospital he was admitted to. According to a family member, Randhir Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor was being treated for Kidney complications before his death at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

The Bollywood actor acted in movies like Deewar and Kabhie which made a great impact on his career. The movies were well praised and were huge hits in the Hindi Film Industry for a long period of time. Kapoor belonged to the Kapoor dynasty of the Hindi film Industry.
During his acting career, he acted in more than 100 films. He was also involved in performances in theaters in India and also in Britain and the United States. At some point, he played roles in movies which were produced by Merchant Ivory productions in Britain and in the US.

Kapoor was the last born of his family of three. He was born in the year 1938 in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata. His father's traveling theatre company introduced him to the world of acting at the age of six. He appeared on stage in the production of a classic Hindu love story, "Shakuntala" at this tender age. Shashi Kapoor will be highly missed by his fans.
