The “American Music Awards” will be aired November 19, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, originally created by Dick Clark in 1973. The "AMAs" will be hosted this year by Tracee Ellis Ross and it will be her first time doing so, but she's a pretty good fit for the global festivities. She has hosted the “BET Awards” in 2003 and co-hosted the large gathering “Black Girls Rock.” Tracee Ross also has been featured in two of Kanye West videos, the “New Workout Plan” (2004) and “Touch The Sky” in (2006). She's more than ready and a very entertaining person to watch.

Sunday will be a big day for Tracee Ellis Ross, as she will be honoring her mother with the 2017 "AMA" Lifetime Achievement Award for 2017. Her mother, Diana Ross, grew up in Detroit, Michigan and carried on a great singing career. Becoming one of the most influential female solo and group singer to ever live. She has won seven awards with the AMAs, performed three times, and hosted the award show twice. Diana Ross has been around at the "American Music Awards" for a mighty long time. It's an honor for the creators of the show to give here the Lifetime Achievement Award by noone other than her daughter.

Performances this year for the award show

The "American Music Awards" will have a number of performances that include Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Pink, and Diana Ross (just to name a few).

Plenty of talented artists will be participating all throughout the day. Not just US artists will be there, but singers and producers from all of the world will be in attendance. There are some great collaborations that will be happening also, Imagine Dragons will be on stage with Khalid, and Alessia Cara will team up with Zedd.

Alesso, Hailee Steinfeld, Florida Georgia Line, and Watt will all be performing their country songs. BTS, the Korean pop group, will be on stage singing too, after dominating the Billboards

Top nominees for the awards this year will be Drake, The Chainsmokers, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Rae Sremmurd, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, Keith Urban, Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Migos, Chance the Rapper, Beyonce, Childish Gambino, Linkin Park, Shawn Mendes, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, and many more.

There are so many artists at this award show you could create a book as big as the bible with just with names. Nominees are chosen through billboard.com and Billboard Magazine, where they tabulate album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity, and touring. Bruno Mars has the most nominations this year with eight.
