"Dancing with the Stars" aired its Halloween episode on Monday, October 30. As one would expect, stars were outfitted in costumes of there favorite characters. Thanks to troupe dancer Sasha Farber, there were lots of pranks throughout the show. Some of them were scary, and some were not.

There were individual dances and the first team dances of Season 25. NBC stayed true to the trick-or-treat theme of Halloween because at the end of the show there was a very surprising trick. It was a double elimination that wasn't expected. Viewers were shocked that there was a double elimination, and even more shocked about the two couples who were eliminated.

Double elimination

At the end of the show, four couples were in jeopardy. They were Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke, and Drew Scott and Emma Slater and Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev. From that long list of names, host Tom Bergeron hesitated and called Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev to be eliminated on the seventh week of the competition. The Celebrities, the judges, and the audience gave a big gasp. Viewers at home probably did the same thing.

It is interesting that Nick Lacey and Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated last week and their spouses were eliminated a week later. Therefore, Vanessa and Maks don't have too many bragging rights.

Last Dances

The two couples who were eliminated received the same score of 24 for their individual dances. Vanessa and Maks danced a pasodoble. Nikki and Artem danced a jive. Two other couples went to the top of the leaderboard with a perfect score of 30.

It was no surprise that Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold received a 10 from each judge for their paso doble that sent them to the top of the leaderboard.

They have been there several times before. Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson received a perfect score for the first time this season.

Team Dances

Team Monster Mash, consisting of Jordan and Lindsay, Lindsey and Mark, Terrell and Cheryl, and Nikki and Artem, received a 24 out of 30. That score was added to their individual scores.

People had predicted this would be the winning team, but it wasn't.

Team Phantom of the Ballroom included Frankie and Witney, Vanessa and Maks, Victoria and Val, and Drew and Emma. This team was more in sync with each other. The judges gave good comments along with a perfect score of 30 out of 30.
