Marvel’s latest film to hit the theaters all over the world was “Thor: Ragnarok,” and the anticipation for it was immense just like any other Marvel movies. The new film installment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was also the third Thor film, and it tackled something bigger than world invasion, which is a family squabble.

Marvel’s “Thor: Ragnarok” made its premiere in Los Angeles on October 10, but it is scheduled to hit theaters all over the United States on November 3, and it will be available in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D.

The official trailers already revealed the main villain and the gist of what’s going to happen in the movie, but of course, there were still tons of surprises.

The only bad thing about the movie

“Thor: Ragnarok” started off with Thor narrating the movie, which all of a sudden turned into a soliloquy while he’s chained up in a fiery dungeon. This scene was the first of the countless funny ones that randomly popped up in the movie.

Marvel did a great job incorporating humor in this Thor movie, but it felt a little out of character to find the god of thunder suddenly cracking jokes left and right, and even getting into ridiculously awkward situations.

The unexpected humor in the movie added color, and it was appreciated until it wasn’t funny anymore.

Some people said that “Thor: Ragnarok” might be the funniest Marvel movie yet, but there was just too much comedy that the movie lacked heart, which ruined important dramatic moments and distracted viewers from the point of the scenes. It somewhat gave off a vibe that it was trying hard to be as funny as the “Guardians of the Galaxy” characters.

The pros and the verdict

Everything else about “Thor: Ragnarok” was great, including the cast, cinematography, and the soundtrack. The playful banters were excessive, but the film was nothing short of a Marvel superhero movie, especially the action-packed bouts.

The new cast did a great job, especially Cate Blanchett who portrayed the character of the main villain and evil elder sister, Hela. Aside from that, minor characters from the previous Thor movies were also given major roles in this movie, which was great because fans finally got to see more of what these characters could do.

Given that it's a Marvel movie, “Thor: Ragnarok” is definitely worth the watch. Aside from the non-stop bickering, the fans will see brother Thor and Loki finally teaming up to fight a common enemy, who just happened to be way stronger than them even with Hulk and Valkyrie's help.

One side note that fell on the gray area between the pros and the con were the few changed scenes, which included the first meeting with Hela and the final scene where Loki helped save the people of Asgard. Director Taika Waititi explained why the sudden changes in the movie were made, and pointed out that need for the change of scenery was to give more impact to certain moments.
