"The Mountain Between Us" opened in 3,088 theaters on Friday, October 6. If you love a romantic movie, you will be thrilled. If you love a movie of survival, then this movie is for you. If you love the acting of Idris Elba, you can't go wrong by seeing this movie. If you love seeing the talented Kate Winslet on the big screen, you are in for a treat. The 112-minute movie is based on the book by Charles Martin and has been categorized as a romantic survival adventure film.

The movie is an emotional journey that can be viewed in several ways. Therefore, it might take more than one viewing to understand all that the film offers.

A lot of metaphors are included from the title to the very end. In fact, the mountain might not only be a physical mountain but also a metaphorical one for both of the main characters. When you watch the movie, you will definitely see that the mountain means something different for photojournalist Alex Martin, played by Kate Winslet and Dr. Ben Bass, played by Idris Elba.

Shared problem

The two characters who dominate the movie are strangers when they first meet through a shared problem. Their different flights have been canceled because of a storm. They both need to get to their destination for different reasons. They decide to get an independent pilot to fly them to Denver, where they could make a connection there to continue on their trip home.

Instead of ending up in Denver, the small plane goes down when the pilot dies in midair from a stroke. The plane lands on a snowy mountain. The rest of the movie is all about Alex and Ben going from being stranded strangers to becoming involved in something much deeper.

Alex wants to get home because she is getting married.

Ben wants to get back to his patients. The beautiful snowy mountain is the setting for most of the movie, but the mountain between them is obviously more than the one they can see. By the end of the movie, viewers will also realize that Alex and Ben have gotten to know each other quite well and are no longer strangers.

Movie budget

The budget for the movie was $35 million. The box office brought in $10 million on opening day. By the end of the weekend, sales will no doubt be much higher. It is in competition with "Blade Runner 2049" and "My Little Pony: The Movie" that were also released on Friday.

If you like the type of movie described here, go to see "The Mountain Between Us" and see what you think about the acting of Elba and Winslet, as well as the plot.
