She is seen with curly hair indicating that some time has passed between the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2. This may have been a decision made by the Duffer Brothers as to explain why the original child cast is now young teenagers on the show.

Furthermore, Eleven is seen using her powers to unlock a door from the outside. The shot widens to reveal that she has arrived at Mike's home. While the trailer finally confirms that Eleven finds her way back to Mike, it also delves further into the character of Will.

Since returning from the Upside Down, Will Byers has not been the same. According to The Verge, the trailer reveals little snippets about what is going on with Will. It is revealed that he is seeing visions of the Upside Down. He sees terrifying creatures who are huge in scale in comparison to the Demi Gorgon.
