Earlier we talked about Supreme Leader Snoke and why he is a force to be reckoned with. We explained why he is a powerful character in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” because of his impressive skills with The Force. Recently, a source teased that he might even have powers similar to the legendary Darth Vader.
Snoke’s force choke
Star Wars theorist Mike Zeroh cited a source who claimed to have knowledge about a particular scene in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” that highlights Snoke’s strength. This scene supposedly involves one of the villain’s skills, the force choke.
According to the insider, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) does not need to raise his arm to choke a person, like what Darth Vader does. Instead, he only needs to use his eyes to inflict such pain on the person.
“All he has to do is look a person in the eye and they will start choking, gasping for air, near death,” Zeroh said as quoted by The Express. A violent sound effect goes along with the Force choke to enhance the massive pain it inflicts on the person. Zeroh added that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will do something similar to when Darth Vader choked Krennic in “Rogue One: A Stars Wars Story.” There was a “high hum” when Krennic grabbed at his throat before he fell to the floor. However, we did not see Darth Vader lift his arm to choke him.
Snoke’s other Force powers
The book “Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know” mentions that Snoke is also a master of telekinesis, telepathy, and force throws. It is likely that when he uses the force choke he also uses telepathy. This is similar to what Darth Vader did to Krennic in “Rogue One.”
Where Snoke got his powers
Details about the identity of Supreme Leader Snoke remain scarce.
His history remains a secret and one that avid “Star Wars” fans want to explore. Director Rian Johnson said that “The Last Jedi” will not explore his backstory but there are plenty of theories around to satisfy fans. One is the possibility that Snoke is Darth Plagueis. This theory is backed up with the fact that the Dark Lord of the Sith has not appeared in the flesh in the “Star Wars” trilogy.
He was only mentioned in stories told by Palpatine in “Revenge of the Sith.” This would supposedly explain why Snoke only appeared in a hologram in “The Force Awakens” because he is a Force Ghost. He would need a human body as a vessel and rumors have it that he plans to use Kylo Ren for his physical form in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
