Selena Gomez finally dropped a new track, "Wolves," on Wednesday! The emotional track, which also features Marshmello, marked her first release since she announced that she had undergone a kidney transplant a few months ago. Many fans seem to believe that the singer was inspired by her battle with lupus, and used that as a source to write the song.

Shortly after the new song was released, the 25-year-old singer sat down for an interview with Zane Lowe of Beats Radio 1 to talk about the track and her upcoming album. "The song is very beautiful and personal," she explained.

"The lyrics just have a whole story of its own."

Selena and her struggle with lupus

The "Fetish" artist said she was going through though tough times while working on the emotional track in Japan. "I would think it's safe to say that after a few things I've experienced, [this will be my most honest album yet]," she added.

Selena Gomez also decided to take her time in writing and producing her new music, with the hope of making it more personal and meaningful. Aside from that, the singer wanted to balance her work and personal life in order to make time for herself, especially after the operation.

Not much has been said about her upcoming release, but the former Disney star has already released three new songs this year, including "Bad Liar," "Fetish" and "It Ain't Me," off Kygo's "Kids In Love" album.

For now, the singer has not set a timetable for her new album since she wanted to do it at her own pace.

Selena reconnects with JB after kidney transplant

Aside from working on her upcoming release, the "Kill Em with Kindness" singer is also making an effort to reconnect with those who were once important to her. In fact, she recently had a reunion with her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, along with their mutual friends from church.

The get-together took place at Selena Gomez's pad in Studio City on Sunday. Paparazzi shots showed Justin Bieber's monster truck parked outside her residence, while the female artist was photographed on her way inside the house. It was said that the "Love Yourself" crooner was the first to arrive for the gathering that lasted until at least midnight.

Multiple sources clarified that there was nothing romantic about the reunion, adding that the two singers are just friends. Selena Gomez is currently in a relationship with The Weeknd, who knew about the meeting and had no problem with his girlfriend hanging out with Justin Bieber.
