Nina Robertson from Australia bagged the gold medal in the swimsuit preliminary competition of Miss Earth 2017. The coronation night of the pageant will be held in Pasay City, Philippines on November 4.

Robertson bested other candidates in the swimsuit show held at Chaos, City of Dreams in the Philippine capital. Venezuela’s Ninoska Vasquez was declared first runner-up, while Lessie Giler from Ecuador finished as second runner-up.

After the swimsuit competition of this group, an after party was held at the same venue. There were singing and dance performances presented to the candidates.

There are already some contestants who are leading the medal tally. Delegates from Peru, the Philippines, and Vietnam are currently on top of the leaderboard after some of the preliminary rounds have been concluded, local newspaper Tempo reported.

Anybody’s game

Hometown girl Karen Ibasco bagged the gold medal in her group’s swimsuit preliminaries. Meanwhile, Karla Victoria Aponte from Puerto Rico also took home the same title in her group.

Two group talent contests have been successfully held as well, with Ramina Ashfaque from Pakistan and Artemis Charalambous from Cyprus winning this round. Vietnam’s Le Thi Ha Thu won the resort wear competition of the third group.

An evening gown preliminary event was also held recently at Landbank Auditorium in Ermita, Manila.

This event joined by the third group was won by Puerto Rico’s delegate, with Mexico winning a silver medal and Vietnam bagging a bronze medal.

Earlier, the second group’s long gown contest was won by Peru, Costa Rica, the Philippines, and Nigeria. Despite the emergence of early winners, pageant organizer Lorraine Schuck said that it will still be “anyone’s game.”

Schuck is the executive vice-president of Carousel Productions, the company behind the annual beauty tilt.

The pre-pageant events will affect the placement of the ladies in the group of finalists during the coronation night.
