Kim Kardashian & Kanye West's security team scare off intruder with firearms

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West faced an attempted burglary at their Bel Air mansion early Friday morning. The thief apparently did not aim to break into the house but was instead interested in the three vehicles parked at the end of the driveway. The burglary was reportedly attempted around 4 AM on Friday and the thief left with only an iPhone belonging to one of the couple's staff members.

Caught on camera

According to TMZ, a nearby surveillance camera caught the suspect on camera. He allegedly trashed the three cars parked at the end of Kim and Kanye's driveway, none of which belonged to them.

All three cars were owned by their staff members, which most likely left the thief disappointed.

Sources say that the burglar was scared away by the Wests' security team. TMZ reports that it is standard procedure for the couple's security to carry licensed guns with them at all times. The security apparently approached the thief with their firearms, which caused him to immediately flee the property.

The burglar was apparently not finished after being scared off by the Wests' security team. According to TMZ, he went to their neighbor Kathy Griffin's house following the incident and vandalized a car at the end of her driveway. The car turned out to belong to one of her staff members but the thief still decided to take a purse.

The purse was allegedly left nearby, hinting that the unidentified man was disappointed with the contents. TMZ reports that law enforcement in the area obtained a picture of him from surveillance footage and are currently searching for him.

Not Kim's first scare

This attempted robbery comes just about a year after Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in Paris.

Armed gunmen reportedly forced their way into her hotel room before tying Kim up, taping her mouth shut, and stealing over $10 million in jewelry.

Kim was in Paris for fashion week at the time and was alone in her room, but had security outside. The gunmen allegedly dressed as police in order to get past hotel reception and her security before throwing Kim in a bathtub.

The celebrity was haunted by the incident, which caused her to stay out of the public eye for a while.

Since the event occurred over a year ago, the West family has greatly increased their security. Their teams apparently never carried firearms, but, following the incident, changed their standard procedure. Kim has spoken about the Paris incident many times and remains scarred by it to this day.
