Harvey Weinstein 'couldn't remember' if he assaulted Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale is the latest celebrity to speak out about her experiences with Harvey Weinstein. The producer was exposed in a New York Times investigative piece last week for his decades of sexual harassment. Since the article was published, there have been non-stop harassment allegations in Hollywood.

The first meeting

Beckinsale took to Instagram to tell the story of her first meeting with Weinstein.

When she was only 17 years old, she was called to meet with the acclaimed producer. She says that she figured the meeting would take place in a conference room but was told by a receptionist to go directly to his room.

As many other actresses speaking about their experiences have said, Weinstein opened the door in only his bathrobe. Beckinsale said she was "incredibly naive and young," therefore the situation did not appear to be sexual in any way.

Memory loss

Weinstein apparently offered her alcohol although she was underage, which she turned down. She then told him that she had school in the morning and immediately left the room.

Recalling the next time she saw him a few years later, she said that Weinstein was curious about what happened at their first meeting.

The Actress said she came to the realization that he couldn't remember whether or not he assaulted her. She said that Weinstein continuously attempted to make advances on her, but she always rejected them. Beckinsale said that some of her rejections led to the producer yelling at and insulting her.

The actress shared that while always rejecting Weinstein made her feel good about herself, it definitely had a negative impact on her career. She says that the only people who supported her in the decision were her family.

Finishing up her post, Beckinsale said a friend of hers shared her experience with an actress who was supposed to attend dinner with Weinstein.

The next day, he was told he would never take part in another Miramax film.

Beckinsale says the young actress was already involved with Weinstein and told him about the warning she was given. The actress concluded by saying that young women should not be "sexual cannon fodder." She called Harvey Weinstein an "emblem" of the sick system that is Hollywood.

Kate Beckinsale is now part of a large list of celebrities who have spoken out about the scandal including Meryl Streep, Gwenyth Paltrow, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Rose McGowan, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
