Season 2 of “Stranger Things” is just days away and the final trailer has recently been released. From the trailer, fans can expect crazier things with the new monster and more Upside Down. The trailer has also revealed different clues and details about the upcoming season.
It’s 1984
The second season is set in 1984, a year after the events in the first season. It is also the same year the film “Ghostbusters” was released and instantly became popular – which explains why the four friends - Will, Mike, Dustin and Lucas, are wearing the iconic “Ghostbusters” suit for Halloween.
Also, it was also shown that Hawkins Lab is still open.
Eleven is back
In the opening of the trailer, we see Eleven taking the Eggos Hopper left for her at the end of Season 1. Eleven also escaped from the Upside Down at the end of the season. This raises a theory that Eleven has spent the past few months in the real world and has been living off of Eggos.
Later in the trailer, we see Eleven on the porch of Terry Ives’ house – the woman in the catatonic state and is believed to be Eleven’s mother. She unlocked and opened the door using her powers.
Shadow Monster
Already introduced at the end of Season 1, the big monster for Season 2 is the Thessalhydra or the Shadow Monster. Like the Demogorgon from the previous season, the Thessalhydra is another creature from the Dungeons & Dragons game.
We also see a bunch of drawings of the Shadow Monster and some tentacles on papers taped together forming a maze. It could refer to the tentacles of the monster or a tunnel forming below Hawkins made by other monsters who escaped from the Upside Down.
The tunnel theory sounds more convincing after seeing the many clips of the characters in a cavern like a tunnel.
We see Hopper, the gang, and Steve (with his bat with nails) in Upside Down or the Upside Down is taking over the real world.
New characters
A few new characters are arriving at Hawkins this season. One is Bob Newby, played by Sean Astin, who from the trailer, is helping Hooper and the Kids. Bob is Joyce Byers’ boyfriend who was one of her classmates from high school.
Another character helping the gang is Max, played by Sadie Sink.
We also see Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers discover a complex web of clues posted on a wall, and there was a man behind them who could be Murray Bauman. The character is played by Brett Gelman, Murray is a former journalist turned conspiracy theorist who has come to Hawkins to look into what actually happened.
