It seems like the K-Pop world is going through a lot of hurdles this year. It has just been reported that the most successful idol girl group in South Korea will be losing three members.

There are reports going around recently that three members of Girls’ Generation, which is also fondly referred to as SNSD, has decided not to renew their respective contracts with Sm Entertainment (SMEnt). The group has been under the spotlight lately because of the status of their contracts and they reportedly underwent long discussions before they could decide.

Girls’ Generation to lose three members

It has been four years since Jessica Jung left the legendary K-Pop girl group. SNSD made their debut in 2007 with nine members and they became the first ever female idol group to be on top of a competitive idol industry dominated by male artists.

To this day, the group remains to be one of the biggest Korean pop act in the world. However, they might have to struggle in keeping that title as it has just been reported that three more members are planning to leave the group.

According to a report from Ilgan Sports, Tiffany Hwang, Choi Sooyoung, and the youngest member Seo Ju Hyun (Seohyun) has reportedly decided to leave SM Entertainment and stop promoting with the girl group.

The agency has yet to confirm but reports stated that these three members have already set out to pursue individual paths when the group’s contract recently expired.

The other members namely Kim Taeyeon, Lee Soon Kyu (Sunny), Kim Hyoyeon, Kwon Yuri, and Im Yoona have all renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment. However, with the surprising turn of events, there’s no telling if they will continue promoting as a group or focus on their solo projects.

Three members to pursue acting

Girls’ Generation recently celebrated their 10th year anniversary, which took place in August. They also released a new album, “Holiday Night” and promoted their two new title tracks for only a few days.

Fans have suspected that there was something off after the girls’ promotion period was cut short and that their contract renewal was in the works.

Additional reports stated that the Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun have all decided to pursue something different.

Sooyoung and Seohyun reportedly wanted to further pursue their acting careers, which is understandable since the two idol stars have been making a name in the acting industry. Sooyoung has already starred in three new television drama series while Seohyun has starred in various musicals and drama series.

As for Tiffany, the California-born Korean star is reportedly planning to expand her music career in the United States. Tiffany has made her solo debut with her album, “I Just Wanna Dance,” which was released in May 2016. She has not been active since her social media scandal and recent reports revealed she is planning to leave South Korea soon.
