"Game of Thrones" has produced a vast number of theories over the course of the years. And while most of them rely heavily on George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, there's no doubt that the most popular ones will be addressed in the television show as well, even with only six episodes left. After all, each episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 8 will be feature length with $15 million budget.
So we have every reason to believe that the final season will be epic and definitely worth the wait.
Here are four theories that are likely to come true in "Game of Thrones" season 8.
1. Cleganebowl
The theory states that the Clegane brothers are going to fight to the death. And while everyone thought they'd meet again in Cersei's trial by combat, Cersei blew away every chance for that when she blew the Great Sept of Bealor with wildfire.
It wasn't until the dragon pit scene in "Game of Thrones" season 7 finale that we got any clue about whether or not Cleganebowl will happen. To recall, before he released the captured wight from the cage, the Hound approached the zombie that used to be his brother and said: "You know who is coming for you, you've always known" line.
And just like that, the Cleganebowl theory started to sound real again.
2. Who will kill Cersei?
"Who will kill Cersei aka the Valonqar?" theory is closely tied with the Maggy the Frog prophecy. As seen in season 5 premiere flashback, young Cersei asked the woods witch some questions. After finding out that she will be queen for a time before a younger and more beautiful queen would come to take everything she holds dear, Cersei was told that her three children would all die before her.
However, in the books, the prophecy also states that the Valonqar which is High Valyrian for a little (younger) sibling, will wrap his hands around her pale white throat and choke the life from her.
While Cersei is convinced that Tyrion will kill her, there are other candidates for this role.
By now, most people think that Jamie will be the one, because he is, indeed, a few minutes younger than Cersei, and he might kill his sister to save the people, just like he did with the Mad King.
But in the television show, it might be Arya who will do the deed. After all, Cersei is on her list, and if that's the case, it might explain why the showrunners deliberately left out the last part of the prophecy.
3. Jon Snow is "The Prince That Was Promised"
"Game of Thrones" season 7 finale confirmed that Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen) is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, so it stands the reason to believe that he is also "The Prince That Was Promised" who will defeat the White Walkers.
Also, this prince is said to have a song of ice and fire, and Jon Snow is the product of the union between ice (Lyanna) and fire (Rhaegar).
4. Daenerys Targaryen will die
To defeat the darkness, the hero had to kill his wife, which leads us to the bitter part of the well-known theory. If Jon is the reincarnation of the Last Hero, he would have to make the same sacrifice. And just like Azor Ahai plunged his sword into the heart of Nissa Nissa, Jon could end up doing the same to his soon-to-be wife, Daenerys Targaryen.
