An upcoming episode of "This Is Us" on NBC will feature a first for the show. Viewers might get a glimpse into the Big Three's lives -- Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) - as much older adults in what would be a peek into the future.

Actress and episode director Regina King hinted about this upcoming episode during the Emmy Awards red carpet. The “American Crime Story” actress helmed the sixth episode of “This is Us” season 2, which finished filming in early September.

"One thing I can tell you without getting in trouble with NBC is that in my episode, you get to meet the Big Three in a decade that you've never seen them in before," Regina King told E!

News.

From one decade to the next

The storytelling on "This is Us" in the first season moved through three decades. Viewers saw the triplets' birth and childhood in the '80s, or part of their teen years in the '90s, in each and every episode.

The show's main timeline covers the present day with the Big Three as 30-something adults building their lives and careers. What viewers have never seen on “This is Us" before is a future timeline.

There are, however, speculations that perhaps Regina King’s episode might cover the Big Three’s college years or the early 2000s. Episode 6 has a tentative Oct. 31 airdate on NBC.

Emmy win for Brown, McRaney

Meanwhile, Sterling K. Brown won the Best Actor award at the recently-concluded Emmys for his role as the show’s adopted sibling Randall.

He beat his "This is Us" dad Milo Ventimiglia in the same category, as well as Anthony Hopkins (“Westworld”), Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”), Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”).

The show's guest actor, Gerald McRaney, also won an Emmy for Best Guest Actor for playing the Big Three's doctor, Nathan Katowski.

Season 2 premiere

This is Us” will return to NBC on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9:00 PM EST. The first episode will kick off with the Big Three's 37th birthday, which also happens to be their deceased father's birthday.

Randall and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) will still decide if they want to pursue adoption, while Kate will embark on a new career as a singer.

Kevin, on the other hand, will find that a career and a relationship both need hard work.

Viewers will also find out how Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) will deal with their separation, as seen in last season's finale.
