Ellen DeGeneres recently created her parody version of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” music video. She shared her version in an episode of her talk show, drawing laughter from the audience.

Her own version edited the clip to include herself, either conversing with Swift or reacting to the lyrics of the song. She even created her own set of “other Ellen DeGeneres selves” in a parody of the singer’s past characters.

“I wanna talk about a friend of mine if you don’t mind, her name is Taylor Swift. I don’t know if you have heard of her, but she’s a friend of mine,” DeGeneres said, followed by loud cheers from the live studio audience.

Funny music video

Before launching her version of the music video, she did some comic monologues. She also asked the audience if they have watched the video, E! Online reported.

“I thought it was okay, I thought it was good, it could have been better,” DeGeneres jokingly said. “I was in the original because I’m part of her squad... And apparently, [Taylor Swift] cut me out. I don’t know, she’s threatened by me sometimes. Nice try, Tay Tay because I got my hands on the real video.”

The parody version began with the bird’s eye view shot of the graveyard, then transitioned to the scene when the singer was bathing in diamonds. DeGeneres was on the other side of the bathtub, playing with the jewelry and making some funny facial expressions.

When Swift gestured a gunshot, it flew toward the comedian. “Ouch,” she said.

There was also a funny moment from the scene when the singer answered a phone call and told the person on the other line that “the old Taylor is dead.” The person on the other line was not revealed in the original video, but DeGeneres decided to take on that role.

“Hey Tay Tay, I have a question for you,” she told the singer via the phone call. Swift replied, “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now.”

“Why not?” the TV host asked and received the reply, “’Coz she’s dead.”

DeGeneres then said, “Who am I playing footsies with?” The clip revealed her touching the singer with one of her feet.

By the end of the parody video, the TV host introduced various versions of herself just as Swift introduced hers in the original clip. These characters included Twerking Ellen, Tipsy Ellen, Cowboy Ellen, Glamorous Ellen and more.

Record-breaking hit

“Look What You Made Me Do” has earned more than 450 million views since it was released. The music video is part of Swift’s upcoming album which will be released in November. It also includes other songs such as “Ready For It?”
